Is a Paid Account on Geocaching.com Worth It?

I pose this question to all my cacher friends out there because I've been a member on geocaching.com for well over a year now and I've just not seen the real need for a paid account. I know there are perks and I know what most of them are, but my real question is, how much do you use them?

Or should I pay just to support the cause?

The best tool is Pocket Queries. I use them all the time. I also use Caches Along a Route, when I travel by car. Yes, it is worth it to me. GManSan

I agree with GManSan. I use the pocket queries every week. I get a list that I load directly to my GPS that has all the new caches, and removes the archived ones. Plus, I get access to those few caches that are for premium members only.

It's a small annual price, and I like the site/sport so much that it's worth it to me. My money also helps ensure that we'll have a quality website to keep using.

The ultimate tool and worth every penny is the pocket queries. I do paperless caching by using my Palm TX. I can load up all the caches I want for any area I need then easily load them into both of my GPS units. No manual loading and instant pocket sized information at my fingertips. The only time I print anything out anymore is if I want to do a GSAK CacheRaid. Which is a macro that plans the most effective route from one cache to the next. For example you want to end up at cache XYZ and to get there you want to hit 20 caches along the way. It will give you the order of the 20 caches from your starting point thus giving you a route. Saves a lot of time and energy. Oh while I am at it the use of GSAK which is the Geocaching Swiss Army Knife is invaluable and also uses the .GPX files provided by the pocket queries.. -HHH P.S. Congrats on getting the Hippie Mobile TB moving.. It still will never get a real job but hey.... ;)

Hey HHH! Thanks for the reply! I played around with GSAK when I first got started caching and it totally confused me, so I just stopped. But now that I'm a little more savvy, I may give it a whirl again.
I'm thinking I will do a paid account, between your comment and the Anon comment above, apparently the pocket queries are the bomb! But, I don't think I'll be getting the paid account until after December once I'm finished with classes and get more time to cache!

And thanks, my little Hippie TB has moxie.. even if it smells like patchouli :P

Oh JustJohn! See, I was all like "oh I'll get one then but I'll wait till after school when I have more time" and then you had to throw in that little phrase "access to those few caches that are for premium members only".... I wanna be a part of the cool kids club too!!! Must get paid account now!
Thanks for justifying it a little more for me :)

It's worth it, if not just to "give back."

But I use the PQs all the time. It's well worth the money.

Yep, well worth it for all the reasons mentioned. I don't know what I'd do without having the ability to generate pocket queries. Also the caching along a route is nice too, but I don't have a need for it very often.

Premium accounts are da shitt... definitely worth the two fitty per month.

For the price, they are worth it. I use the pocket queries all the time. Plus, doesn't it provide the option of downloading .gpx files of the caches themselves. More info than a .loc file, so that's a bonus. Those two bonuses alone keep me paying.
